Read by KD0VEB, Bill, Secretary. ACCEPTED
ANTENNA BUILD PROJECT The antenna build project scheduled to follow the June 4rth meeting was postponed…N0ZIB, ADAM, was scheduled to demonstrate how to wind impedance matching coils for long wire antennas tested positive for Covid and was not able to make the May 4th meeting. This project will be rescheduled for a later date. Stay tuned for further details.
KB0WWQ, LORI NOTES RE: RADIO EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS at Mercy Jefferson Hospital. Faulty antenna issues have been resolved and radio equipment necessary to run HARN and Monday night JCARC 2-Meter Nets from the hospital are good to go.
RE: BOTTLENECK BRIDGE BIKE RIDE. Is on for Sunday, Aug 21, 2022, 7AM to MID DAY? Lori has coordinated with Trail Net (sponsors) and has a list of JCARC radio operators who will provide communications support for this event. No problems at this time.
RE: FIELD DAY…JUNE 25-26, will be held at Sunridge Park, Hillsboro, MO. from 9AM Saturday to 3PM Sunday. KEOTTE, CHRIS, will, once again, ply his BBQ expertise, free of charge, to cook brats, hamburgers & hot dogs for those who show up for this annual event. The Club will provide meat, buns and condiments; members will bring a side dish and drinks of their choosing.
6 METER FIELD DAY OPS KC9JLI, JOHN who usually operates in the 6 Meter band portion during Field Day using solar power and a home-brew beam antenna will not be in this year. John is dealing with health issues.
HAITI MISSIONARY WORK N0POD, Don, who heads up a Haitian Mission reported that, the entire recent shipment of 1700 pounds of soup mix actually made all the way to its Haiti destination. That’s good news…since Don reports that most often only 35% of his shipments actually make it to their destinations due to graft and corruption in the system.
Don is always in need of donations of resaleable items he can convert to dollars needed to support his missionary work in Haiti. You can reach Don or his wife at: firstname.lastname@example.org You can also drop items off at his residence.
SEPTEMBER AUCTION KE0YXX, RAY, who is coordinating this effort gave a thorough review (in a two-page report) of how he envisions the upcoming Sept 24th Club Auction will proceed. The detailed report covered what Ray expects will be needed to make this auction a success. Ray expanded on many topics including the who, what, where, when and how he envisions this “first time” auction proceeding. Most important will be putting together a volunteer crew to help manage the many known and unknown details to maintain control during this 8AM to 3PM event. Please let Ray know how you can help make this auction a success.
SILENT KEY On a sadder note, we learned of the passing of KC9JLI, JOHN Kessler of Waterloo, Ill. on June 2, 2022. John was a very active participant in the local Amateur Radio scene and possessed a vast knowledge of the technical aspects of the hobby which he generously always shared with anyone who asked. He was a member of the Ancient Modulators Club (AMC), showed up frequently at JCARC meetings and was noted for setting up a solar-powered 6 Meter remote station at annual Field Day events using his home-brew beam antenna. John’s contributions to the local Amateur Radio community will be missed. RIP, KC9JLI.
