RE: 147.105 Antenna N0ZIB, Adam is working on securing quotes to pay a climber to place the new Club Antenna (currently residing in KB0WWQ, Lori’s home QTH) on the 911 Tower QTH. More to come on that.
RE: TWIN CITY DAYS KE0YXX, Ray has been busy pulling together details necessary for the Club’s upcoming participation @ the Saturday, September 11th “Twin City Days” festival set up on Main Street, Festus, MO. This is an annual, one-day, 8AM to 4PM event that always draws large crowds…a perfect venue for exposing the JCARC & the Ham Radio hobby in general to the public.
A 10×10 booth has been secured as well as a 10×10 canopy. Club members will provide a table, chairs, handouts & registration cards for future contacts. Someone will bring the Club Banner; and KD0EPA, Bill & N0HKK, John are researching power needs for the day. Volunteers are needed to help out at the booth from 8AM to 4PM as well as tear down.
The 147.075 FM repeater will be activated from 8AM to 4PM to provide live communications to/from the booth throughout the day. KB0WWQ, Lori will monitor/operate remote from 8AM to NOON and KD0VEB, Bill will monitor and operate remotely from NOON to 4PM. HF radios and other equipment will be on hand at the booth for “show & tell” interactions with the crowd.
FOX HUNT This year, KD0EPA, Bill (who coordinates this activity) stated he will be offering a scaled-down version of a full-blown Fox Hunt this year. This year will involve more “training” to check out equipment and hone tracking skills. No date, time or venue has been set for this activity. Stay tuned for more information on that.
RE: JOTA There was a discussion concerning how and where the JCARC might co-venture with the Ancient Modulator’s Amateur Radio Club to participate in the Boy Scouts of America’s 2021 “Jamboree-On-The-Air activity scheduled for October 16th, this year. It was suggested Arnold City Park offers a most favorable venue since there is ample space for setting up antennas, etc. and this QTH offers good access from/to I-55 for out-of-town participants.
KD0EPA, Bill suggested we offer a Certificate-of-Participation to verify a Scout’s involvement in the Jamboree. KF0DVL, Tod (not present at this meeting) expressed interest in coordinating this activity and will be contacted with information discussed at this meeting.
RE: ARES N0CYF, Art stated he is in the process of loading the “Go Box” located at the Jefferson County Emergency Operations Center with gear to be used at ARES functions.
RE: BOTTLENECK RIDGE RIDE August 15th this year. At assignments and check in with Net Control at 7:30AM. 8AM ride start; last bike entry at 10AM and all activity ends when it ends…sometime mid-afternoon. KB0WWQ, Lori (Net Control Operator for this event) has assignments for Rest Stops and SAG Wagons and will notify those volunteers ahead of time so they can proceed directly to their assigned locations instead of at the Net Control location on Main Street, Festus. Lori still needs two more volunteers to complete the roster of participants: One person to “shadow” TrailNet people and one more for a general assignment.
You may phone Lori at 636-933-0576 for assignment.
